DIRECTOR OF CYBERSECURITY

Description:

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Director of Cybersecurity is responsible for overseeing the execution of the Cybersecurity Pilot Plan and to lead the ongoing governance and oversight program under the LGS Cybersecurity Committee (LGSCC). Under a shared services model, this position will work in close partnership with the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation (SaskGaming) Corporate Systems & Technology department to ensure Cybersecurity activities are aligned with IT operations for LGS.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Cybersecurity will:

  • Lead the execution of the LGS Cybersecurity Pilot Plan, coordinating activities across operators and LGSCC.
  • Establish clear timelines, milestones, and reporting requirements for pilot activities.
  • Track operator implementation of required controls and ensure timely escalation of gaps and risks.
  • Report on pilot progress, lessons learned, and recommendations for broader rollout.
  • Transition from pilot oversight to full program management of LGSCC governance activities.
  • Manage cybersecurity governance processes including risk reporting, performance metrics, and oversight committee coordination.
  • Develop and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with operators to ensure compliance with baseline cybersecurity requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between LGSCC and operators on cybersecurity oversight matters.
  • Maintain alignment with recognized frameworks (NIST CSF v2.0, WLA-SCS, CSAE 3416) and evolving regulatory obligations.
  • Provide regular updates and dashboards to LGS executive leadership and the LGSCC.
  • Foster relationships with Crown Investments Corporation (CIC), LGS’s subsidiary and Operator counterparts.
  • Collaborate with operators, its subsidiary and CIC on leading IT and cybersecurity practices.
  • Facilitate workshops, training, and information sessions to strengthen cybersecurity governance practices.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in program/project management where at least 5 years has been in cybersecurity or IT governance roles. Certification in CISSP, CISM, or equivalent is also required.

You will have a deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, strong program and project management expertise, proven experience managing service-level agreements (SLAs) with operators and vendors, and the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder programs in regulated environments.

Certification in ITIL, CRISC, CISA, PMP or PgMP and familiarity with public-sector or Crown corporation governance models would be considered an asset.

An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Takes personal responsibility for one’s own regular work duties; acknowledges and learns from past errors without blaming others; and recognizes the impact that one’s behaviours and words has on team members throughout the corporation and with external stakeholders.

PLANNING/STRATEGIZING: Developing plans, strategies and methods for accomplishing goals and objectives while measuring results against plans.

COLLABORATION: A proven track record as an excellent communicator and collaborator with experience advancing complex files that require working with a multitude of partners and stakeholders.

PROBLEM SOLVING: Identifies, plans and resolves complicated workplace problems and/or issues; and, ensures that work decisions are made in alignment with LGS’s operational and strategic direction.

STRATEGIC ORIENTATION: Links long-range visions and concepts to daily work and thinks and acts upon the big picture. Takes the long-term view and develops appropriate strategies or plans to meet goals.

COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY: Shares and receives information using clear verbal and written and interpersonal communication skills with other team members and with external stakeholders. Communicates complex research results to senior leaders through data visualization, oral presentation and written communication, including advising on the validity of findings and recommends evidence-informed actions to improve sector effectiveness and efficiency.

Work Eligibility:

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming Employee Certificate of Registration. You must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
